SHIFT: Days, 8 hours + call
CERTS/REQUIREMENTS: Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program. Licensure: Current, valid Physical Therapist license in the state of practice (or eligibility to obtain one).
EXPERIENCE: Preferred clinical experience in a relevant setting (hospital, outpatient, rehab); new graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
DESCRIPTION: INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT The Physical Therapist restores patient function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy. This role delivers high-quality, patient-centered care to help individuals achieve their optimal level of mobility, independence, and quality of life.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Patient Assessment & Care Planning: Assess and interpret evaluation results to develop individualized physical therapy treatment plans in collaboration with physicians or per prescription. Meet patient goals through evidence-based interventions. Therapeutic Interventions: Administer manual exercises, therapeutic activities, and functional training. Instruct, encourage, and assist patients with non-manual exercises, ambulatory activities, daily living skills, and the proper use of assistive devices (crutches, canes, prostheses, etc.). Treatment Administration: Provide hands-on treatments including massage, traction, physical agents, hydrotherapy, moist packs, ultrasound, and other modalities. Direct and supervise treatments performed by physical therapy aides, technicians, and assistants. Progress Monitoring & Adjustments: Evaluate treatment effectiveness and the fit/function of prosthetic/orthotic devices. Observe patient progress, document outcomes, and recommend modifications to optimize results. Discharge Planning & Continuity of Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate discharge. Design home exercise programs, educate patients and caregivers, recommend assistive equipment, and arrange outpatient or home health follow-up as needed. Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely charting in patient and department records to support continuity of care and regulatory compliance. Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean clinical environment by following infection control protocols, procedures, and regulations. Ensure equipment is properly maintained and functioning. Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in physical therapy by attending workshops, reviewing publications, participating in professional organizations, and pursuing continuing education. Mentor and develop clinical staff through training and in-service programs. Team Collaboration: Contribute to a positive team environment and interdisciplinary patient care conferences.
